Bikes not Bombs in Boston, MA created this manual for instructors in their earn-a-bike program. The lesson plans in their manual are designed to guide the teaching of adults and older teens who are being trained to become volunteer Earn-A-Bike instructors. The lesson plans cover subjects from riding a bike safely in the city to how to true wheels. New York: Transportation Alternatives, 1996, 72 pp, illustrated, forms, tablesThe best start-up guide for community bike schools. Guide is based on New York Recycle-a-Bicycle program model, which operates earn-a-bike on-site in public schools, but the plans are widely applicable to most locations and situations.
